〈Squid Game 3〉 Takes the Top Spot on Netflix Global Charts Just Two Days After Release... Reviews Are Mixed

〈Squid Game〉 Season 3 has garnered intense interest from viewers worldwide immediately after its release, dominating the Netflix global charts.

According to the online content ranking site Flix Patrol, 〈Squid Game 3〉 released on the 27th, entered the number one spot in the Netflix TV show category just one day after its release on the 28th.

Notably, it ranked first in all 93 countries where Flix Patrol compiles rankings, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Flix Patrol calculates rankings based on scores from Netflix's 'Top 10' rankings and other metrics.

This is a much faster rise compared to Season 1, which took eight days to reach the global number one spot. Season 1 maintained a position in the top 10 for 106 days, establishing itself as a global phenomenon.

However, reviews for Season 3 show a somewhat mixed response. The critics' score on the American film and drama rating site 'Rotten Tomatoes' is 83%, receiving positive feedback, but the audience score, known as the popcorn score, is only 51%. This indicates that nearly half of the viewers gave negative reviews, a decline compared to Season 1's tomato score of 95% and popcorn score of 83%.

Meanwhile, in the Netflix film category, the animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has maintained the number one spot for nine consecutive days since its release on the 20th. As of the 29th, this work has ranked first in the film category in 33 countries, including France, Germany, Hong Kong, Lebanon, and Costa Rica.

Interestingly, both the current number one works in the Netflix film and TV show categories feature actor Lee Byung-hun. Lee Byung-hun plays the role of the game host Frontman, who opposes the protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) in 〈Squid Game 3〉, and voices the ruler of the underworld, Gwi-ma, in 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉.
