CJ ENM announced on the 8th that it will begin production of a global creative musical based on the film <Dancing Queen>, which has surpassed 4.05 million viewers in South Korea. This musical <Dancing Queen> (Working Title) will feature a large number of world-class creators, including Broadway's leading director Jerry Mitchell, known for works such as <Kinky Boots>.
The film <Dancing Queen>, released in 2012, tells the story of Jeong-hwa (Uhm Jung-hwa), who was called the 'Sinchon Madonna', as she leads a double life as the wife of her husband (Hwang Jung-min), who is running for mayor of Seoul, and as the leader of the Dancing Queens, challenging her dreams once again. The musical will focus on the core message of the original work, "Dreams have no expiration date," and aims to provide courage and hope to those who have forgotten their dreams through a message that transcends time, culture, gender, and age, allowing everyone to relate.
Meanwhile, the musical <Dancing Queen> (Working Title) aims to open its performances in Korea in 2027.
