The mixed reality (MR) work <White Door>, supported by the Korea Foundation (KF, Chairman Kim Gi-hwan), has been selected as an official invitation work for the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). Directed by Yoo Sang-hyun, this work will be introduced in the XR special exhibition section 'Beyond Reality' of the film festival.
Additionally, <White Door> will be exhibited for free at Bucheon Art Bunker B39 from July 4 to 13. Visitors will be able to experience the work through Apple's mixed reality headset, the 'Apple Vision Pro'.
This work was specially created for the KF XR Gallery's planned exhibition 'Time Opening Time', which took place from September last year to February this year. This work, which blends traditional Korean aesthetic elements with modern performance in a mixed reality space, has attracted attention from both domestic and international audiences.
Professor Yoo Sang-hyun from the Department of Art and Technology at Seokyeong University, who directed the work, explained the intention behind it, stating, "I wanted to provide a new immersive art experience through a narrative that intersects reality and virtuality alongside Korean dance."
A representative from the Korea Foundation stated, "We hope that this film festival invitation will draw more attention to immersive content that combines Korea's digital technology and cultural arts on the international stage," and regarding future plans, they said, "We will continue to expand communication with the world as part of digital public diplomacy."
