Idris Elba has been awarded a knighthood.

According to a report by 'Sky News', actor Idris Elba has been named in the New Year Honours list announced by the British royal family and has been awarded a knighthood. He has established the 'Elba Hope Foundation' to provide various forms of support to youth around the world.

In response, Idris Elba stated in an official statement, "I accept this on behalf of the many talented, ambitious, and resilient young people who have led the activities of the Elba Hope Foundation," and added, "I hope there is much attention to the importance of ongoing and tangible support for youth, and that helping young people find alternatives to violence is a responsibility we all share."

The recently announced New Year Honours list also includes 1984 gold medalist figure skater Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, and the England women's football team, who won the UEFA Women's Championship in 2022 and 2025.
