Actor Yoo Ji-tae has become the new Han Myung-hoe.
On January 21 (Wednesday), a press screening and press conference for the movie 〈The Man Living with the King〉 was held at Megabox COEX. On this day, director Jang Hang-jun and actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min responded to questions from domestic reporters.
The movie 〈The Man Living with the King〉 tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily goes into exile for the revival of the village and the young former king who was exiled after being ousted from the throne in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo. 〈The Man Living with the King〉 is the first Korean film to deal with the hidden story of King Danjong, with actor Yoo Hae-jin portraying the warm-hearted village chief Eom Heung-do, and Park Ji-hoon playing the role of King Danjong Lee Hong-wi, delivering emotion and lingering feelings.
Yoo Ji-tae plays the role of Han Myung-hoe, the most powerful figure of the time in the film. He is known as the top official who expelled Lee Hong-wi, the rightful heir of the Joseon royal family, and placed Prince Suyang on the throne, a figure with more power than the king of the time. Director Jang Hang-jun stated, "I wanted to create a new Han Myung-hoe rather than the historical records left behind," explaining the reason for creating a new version of Han Myung-hoe with actor Yoo Ji-tae. Yoo Ji-tae expressed, "When portraying a real person, actors carry a lot of burden. I thought, 'If I were Han Myung-hoe,' and I tried to create layers of emotion rather than just emphasizing the functionality of the villain role."
The movie 〈The Man Living with the King〉 will be released on February 4.
