Director Jang Hang-jun revealed the reason for casting actor Park Ji-hoon as Danjong.
On January 21 (Wednesday), a press screening and media conference for the film 〈The King’s Affection〉 was held at Megabox COEX. On this day, director Jang Hang-jun and actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min responded to questions from domestic reporters.
The film 〈The King’s Affection〉 tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily goes into exile in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457 to revive the village and a young former king who is exiled from the throne. 〈The King’s Affection〉 is the first Korean film to deal with the hidden story of Danjong, with actor Yoo Hae-jin portraying the warm-hearted village chief Eom Heung-do, and Park Ji-hoon playing the role of Danjong Lee Hong-wi, delivering emotion and resonance.
Director Jang Hang-jun explained the reason for casting actor Park Ji-hoon as Danjong, saying, "When the drama 〈Weak Hero Class 1〉 was not well-known, I was recommended to watch the drama and thought it would be good for actor Park Ji-hoon to play Danjong." He added, "At that time, actor Park Ji-hoon did not have a clear image as an actor like he does now. I actually thought it was better that way." He then laughed, saying, "But after casting, actor Park Ji-hoon became a global star."
The film 〈The King’s Affection〉 will be released on February 4.
