The Netflix series 〈Solo Leveling〉 follows Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank hunter considered the weakest among the hunters who protect the real world from monsters beyond the gates, as he awakens in the face of death and levels up into the strongest hunter capable of saving the world.

Now well established as pillars of the Korean film industry, many of these directors' rookie-day stories are, in fact, more interesting than the movies that would later define their careers. But those stories rarely come straight from the directors themselves.
