Wong Kar-wai's First TV Drama 〈Blossoms〉, Premiering in July!

SBS drama production company Studio S announced on the 27th that it will premiere Wong Kar-wai's first drama work 〈Blossoms〉 (繁花, Blossoms Shanghai) in South Korea starting July 7.

Wong Kar-wai, known for his globally acclaimed films such as 〈In the Mood for Love〉, 〈Chungking Express〉, and 〈Happy Together〉, is making his directorial debut in TV dramas with this work. Set in 1990s Shanghai, China, this project has undergone a long production process.

Director Wong acquired the rights to the original novel of the same name in 2014 and completed the drama after about seven years of preparation and three years of filming.

〈Blossoms〉 depicts the journey of a poor young man, Abao, who dives into the capitalist world and grows into a millionaire against the backdrop of China's reform and opening-up period. The drama particularly focuses on the protagonist's complex relationships with three women, exploring the struggles between love and ambition as a central narrative.

This work will premiere on July 7 at 10 PM on the SBS F!L UHD channel, and will be available for viewing on major online video service (OTT) platforms such as Tving, Watcha, and Wavve starting the next day, July 8.
