<The Legend of the Cook Soldier> has confirmed the casting of Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, and Lee Hong-nae. The Tving original series <The Legend of the Cook Soldier> (written by Choi Yong, directed by Jo Nam-hyung, produced by Studio Dragon, Studio N, provided by Tving), set to premiere next year, is a 'military meal comedy' drama where a cook soldier, armed with a kitchen knife instead of a gun and an apron instead of a belt, embarks on a quest to save lives and transforms into a legend. Based on the popular Naver webtoon <The Legend of the Cook Soldier> (written/illustrated by J. Robin/Lee Jin-soo), it promises a delightful mix of humor and heartfelt emotion, stemming from the realistic story based on the experiences of writer Choi Yong, a former cook soldier, and the unique and sophisticated direction of Jo Nam-hyung. Additionally, actors Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, and Lee Hong-nae come together as the colorful soldiers in the backdrop of the Ganglim Post, drawing attention.
First, Park Ji-hoon, who gained immense popularity from the <Weak Hero> series, plays the role of Private Kang Sung-jae, a cook soldier who has just transferred to Ganglim Post. After falling from the top trainee to a soldier of concern, Kang Sung-jae accepts the quest to become a cook soldier, following a strange voice. Will Kang Sung-jae be able to become the legendary cook soldier responsible for the diet of the Republic of Korea Army? All eyes are on Park Ji-hoon's portrayal of Kang Sung-jae's leveling-up challenge. Yoon Kyung-ho, who was beloved in the <Severe Trauma Center> series, plays the role of Sergeant Park Jae-young, who is part of the 4th Company to which Kang Sung-jae belongs. Known for his strong dialect, Park Jae-young is an administrative officer nicknamed a ticking time bomb, fully involved in flashy incidents and accidents. He has failed to get promoted every time and remains a perennial sergeant, struggling with the arrival of problematic new recruits. Yoon Kyung-ho's passionate performance is expected to add realism to Park Jae-young's tumultuous military life.
Next, Han Dong-hee will portray Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, the commander of Ganglim Post. Han Dong-hee has a straightforward personality and is the ugly duckling among the elite from the Army Academy. Lee Hong-nae transforms into Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun, the senior cook soldier. With just 100 days left until his discharge, he is cautious even of falling leaves, but a strange new recruit arrives, foreshadowing that his remaining military life will not be smooth.
