From Doctor Doom to Toy Story 5: Disney Reveals 10 Films for 2026 Lineup

The Walt Disney Company has announced its 2026 release lineup, promising a spectacular year ahead.

Walt Disney Company Korea revealed the lineup of 10 anticipated films on January 14. The lineup, spanning from the end of January to December, is filled with original films and new entries in famous series, exciting audiences.

First up is 〈Send Help〉, set to release on January 28. Directed by Sam Raimi, known for the 〈Evil Dead〉 series and 〈Drag Me to Hell〉, this horror and black comedy combines a survival thriller featuring the detestable boss Bradley (Dylan O'Brien) and Linda (Rachel McAdams), who are stranded on a deserted island due to a plane crash. Following this, in February, 〈Rental Family: We Rent Families〉 will greet audiences. The story follows an unnamed American actor Philip (Brendan Fraser) who, while searching for acting opportunities, accidentally gets a job at a role-playing agency, taking on the roles of strangers' family members.

March will see the release of Disney and Pixar's 30th animation 〈Hoppers〉. The protagonist Mabel, who becomes a robotic beaver through a 'hopping' technology that transfers human consciousness to animal robots, experiences nature and the world as an animal. In April, after a long wait, the return of the editor and her former assistant, 〈The Devil Wears Prada 2〉, is in preparation. The first teaser trailer recorded 181.5 million views within 24 hours, proving the popularity of the original. 〈The Devil Wears Prada 2〉 will depict the reunion of editor Miranda (Meryl Streep) and Andrea (Anne Hathaway). Following these two films, the first half of the year will conclude with 〈The Mandalorian and Grogu〉. This film continues the story from the 〈Mandalorian〉 series, showcasing the adventures of bounty hunter Din Djarin and the adorable Grogu across the galaxy.

In July, the return of Woody and Buzz, 〈Toy Story 5〉, awaits. This film depicts toys facing a crisis due to the emergence of a 'smart tablet' suitable for the times. Following that, in August, Disney's animated film 〈Moana〉 will be adapted into a live-action version. Dwayne Johnson, who voiced Maui in the original, will bring his delightful energy to the live-action portrayal of Maui. December will see the grand finale of Marvel's biggest project of 2026, 〈Avengers: Doomsday〉. Robert Downey Jr. returns as the villain Doctor Doom, with many original members like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Patrick Stewart making appearances in the film.

Two highly anticipated films without confirmed release dates will also join the lineup. First, Disney Animation Studio's upcoming project 〈Disney's Hexed〉, set for a fall release, follows an extraordinary teenage boy and his mother as they experience a journey into a magical world hidden in their lives. Directed by Jason Hand, who co-directed 〈Moana 2〉, and Josh Trinidad, who co-directed Disney+ 〈Zootopia+〉, they will present a new universe. The post-apocalyptic thriller 〈Dog Star〉, directed by the renowned Ridley Scott, is based on Peter Heller's popular novel of the same name, depicting the story of a survivor chasing signals of hope in a devastated future world.
