
〈The Last Weapon: Bow〉, 〈Roaring Currents〉, 〈Hansan: The Emergence of the Dragon〉, 〈Noryang: The Sea of Death〉 Director Kim Han-min, who created a box office myth in action historical dramas, returns with his next work.
Production companies Big Stone Pictures and Blue Fire Studios announced on the 15th that they have confirmed the main casting for Director Kim Han-min's film 〈Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan〉 and have officially begun production. The film 〈Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan〉 is set in 668, shortly after the fall of Goguryeo, and revolves around a protagonist who, having lost his memory and become a slave, enters a gladiatorial competition to claim a legendary sword, depicting a blockbuster action historical drama.
The lineup of the main cast is also impressive. First, Park Bo-gum takes on the role of the warrior 'Chilseong', who has lost his memory, showcasing the most radical acting transformation of his filmography. Actor Joo Won has been cast as 'Gye Pil-ha-ryeok', who will stand in opposition to Park Bo-gum. Gye Pil-ha-ryeok is a cold warrior representing the Turkic Khaganate, participating in the gladiatorial competition, forming a tense rivalry with Chilseong.
Jung Jae-young will play 'Heuksugang', the leader of the Goguryeo Restoration Army (Damul Army), who is the master that raises Chilseong to become a true warrior and will demonstrate strong leadership as he secretly works for the restoration of Goguryeo. Following him, Lee Sun-bin will portray 'Maya', a member of the Goguryeo Restoration Army, showcasing a mysterious and intense charm along with action. Finally, Kim Hyung-seo (Bibi) joins as 'Injeong', the daughter of Heuksugang, adding new vitality to the film.
The film 〈Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan〉 is set to officially begin production with a goal of a summer 2027 release.
