Living country music legend Dolly Parton received the best birthday gift from her hometown of Tennessee as she celebrated her 80th birthday.
According to foreign media on the 20th (Korean time), Tennessee Governor Bill Lee officially declared the 19th (local time), the day of Dolly Parton's 80th birthday, as 'Dolly Parton Day'. In his proclamation, Governor Lee paid tribute, stating, "Dolly Parton's life and career are deeply etched in the music, culture, and history of Tennessee," and added, "It is only fitting to celebrate her remarkable legacy and dedication on her 80th birthday."
◆ Charity with Goddaughter Miley Cyrus
Instead of celebrating her birthday, Dolly Parton chose to give back. On this day, she released a new remake version of her classic song 'Light of a Clear Blue Morning'. The track features her goddaughter, pop star Miley Cyrus, along with Lainey Wilson, Queen Latifah, and Reba McEntire, adding more significance to the project. All proceeds from the single will be donated to the pediatric cancer research fund at Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital.
◆ "Not Dead Yet"... The 80-Year-Old Who Won't Stop
Parton, who raised concerns among fans last fall by missing some events due to health issues, showcased her vitality through this birthday message. She stated, "This is just the beginning," hinting at the opening of a Broadway musical about her life this year. Additionally, her Las Vegas Caesars Palace residency, which was postponed for health reasons, is set to resume this September. Parton also directly dismissed health rumors last October via social media, stating, "I’m not dead yet."
Born in 1946, she has won 10 Grammy Awards and left behind immortal hits like 'Jolene' and '9 to 5', and her legend continues to thrive at 80.
