Netflix Officially Acquires Ben Affleck's AI Film Production Company 'Interpositive'

The world's largest video streaming company, Netflix, has embraced the AI-based film production company founded by actor and director Ben Affleck.

On the 5th (local time), Netflix officially announced that it will acquire Interpositive, the AI film production company established by Affleck in 2022.

Interpositive is a company that has solutions to complement technical challenges such as missing footage, inappropriate backgrounds, and lighting errors that occur during the film shooting process using AI technology. It has achieved these results based on datasets collected by a small team of engineers and researchers under conditions identical to actual production environments. However, it is reported that they do not perform tasks where AI replaces actors and acts directly.

With this acquisition, Affleck will join Netflix as a senior advisor.

He stated regarding the background of founding Interpositive, "I felt a responsibility to preserve the judgment that makes storytelling human," and added, "I am happy to continue this work with the Netflix team."

Elizabeth Stone, Netflix's Chief Product Technology Officer (CPTO), explained, "Our approach to AI has always focused on meeting the needs of the creative community and our members," and added, "We believe that innovation should not replace storytellers but enhance their capabilities, which is why the Interpositive team is joining Netflix."

Ben Affleck is a leading Hollywood actor who has appeared in films such as 〈Good Will Hunting〉 and 〈Armageddon〉, and has also portrayed Batman in the DC Extended Universe series, including 〈Justice League〉. He won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the script of 〈Good Will Hunting〉, which he co-wrote with his close friend, actor Matt Damon.
