The 14th Diaspora Film Festival, which will be held from May 22 (Friday) to 26 (Tuesday) at Incheon Art Platform, Aegwan Theater, and the Korea-China Cultural Center in Incheon, has announced the official poster, marking the beginning of the festival (hosted by: Incheon Metropolitan City / organized by: Incheon Film Commission).
The official poster for the 14th Diaspora Film Festival was designed to showcase the accumulation of time by incorporating representative visual elements from the posters of the past 13 years. In particular, it embodies the precious journey and depth of the Diaspora Film Festival through intertwined curves, each representing a knot from the past 13 posters.
This year's official poster design was created by designer Lee Kyung-min from Corridor Studio. Lee Kyung-min explained, "The official poster for the 14th Diaspora Film Festival focuses on representing a structure where curves intersect, twist, and blend together. This harmony evokes the landscape of the diaspora where different paths and times meet and overlap. Additionally, the mass of lines loosely reveals the festival's initials 'D' from the overall outline."
Lee Hyuk-sang, the programmer of the Diaspora Film Festival, stated, "In today's world, where many people are placed in inhumane and unethical situations due to war, the significance of the Diaspora Film Festival, which highlights the values of life, movement, and coexistence of the diaspora, seems to resonate even more. I hope for much interest and support for the upcoming 14th Diaspora Film Festival in Incheon this May."
Now in its 14th year, the Diaspora Film Festival is the only diaspora-focused film festival in Asia, representing the term diaspora, which refers to the lives of immigrants who have preserved their cultures despite being scattered around the world. Set against the backdrop of Incheon, the city where immigration first began in our country and rich with the history and diverse stories of migration, it aims to create a space for harmony that transcends boundaries based on the values of hospitality, coexistence, and respect through film.
