“Dark Matter” is a multiverse sci-fi psychological thriller series that follows “Jason” (Joel Edgerton), who is abducted into another world while living a stable everyday life, as he works relentlessly to return to reality. With an immersive story adapted from Blake Crouch’s New York Times best-selling novel, “Dark Matter,” which has captivated audiences around the world, has officially confirmed that Season 2 will be released on August 28 (Friday) and has shared the first still images. Widely regarded as one of the best sci-fi novels and marking the 10th anniversary of its publication this year, “Dark Matter” tells the story of “Jason,” a physics professor and a family provider, who confronts a path he never chose. In Season 1, Jason struggled to return to his own reality amid a chaotic world filled with countless lives he could have lived, delivering pulse-pounding tension.

In Season 2 of “Dark Matter,” an unimaginable incident will occur in front of Jason’s family as he finally begins to adapt to a seemingly safe world, setting up the next crisis they will have to face. Jason becomes increasingly obsessed with “the Box,” the device that lets him travel between parallel universes, while his wife “Daniela” (Jennifer Connelly) is pushed to the brink by mounting anxiety—threatening to shatter even their fragile balance. Meanwhile, as “Amanda” (Alice Braga) and “Ryan” (Jimmi Simpson) join forces to plan a desperate attempt to get home, the story will unfold with “Rayten” (Dayo Okeniyi), relentlessly pursuing an ambitious dream of creating a perfect world, and “Blair” (Amanda Brugel), who is determined to stop him—promising an exciting, high-stakes development.

The newly released still images capture the mysterious tension between the couple, Jason and Daniela, facing each other, heightening curiosity about the events that are about to unfold for them. In addition, the images include the faces of the Season 1 main cast, including their son “Charlie” (Oakes Fegley) and “Rayten,” raising expectations for the further expansion of their story. Centered on the multiverse concept that brings to life a thought everyone can relate to—“What if I had made a different choice?”—Season 2 of “Dark Matter,” delivering unpredictable twists and highly immersive tension, consists of a total of 10 episodes. Starting with the first episode on August 28 (Friday), new episodes will be released every week on Apple TV through October 30 (Friday).

Starring Golden Globe nominee Joel Edgerton and Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Connelly, “Dark Matter” also features Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Oakes Fegley, and Amanda Brugel, who will lead the series.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, “Dark Matter” was made with greater creative depth as the original novel’s author, Blake Crouch, joined as creator and executive producer, showrunner, and writer. In addition, Matt Tolmach, Richard Lederer, and Jacqueline Ben-Zekri participate as executive producers. Jacqueline Ben-Zekri co-wrote every episode of Season 2 together with Blake Crouch. Lead actors Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly are also credited as executive producers.
