Coupang Play’s ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ Ends, With Kim Hyang-gi, Cha Hak-yeon and Three Other Leads Sharing Farewell Remarks

The five stars of Coupang Play’s 〈Absolute Value of Romance〉, which wrapped up on May 29, reflected on the series after its finale.

〈Absolute Value of Romance〉 is a teen comedy series about high school student Yeo Ui-ju, who writes romance novels starring her school teachers and then finds herself facing them in real life.

As the series ended, the actors expressed affection and gratitude to viewers. Kim Hyang-gi said, "I’m so grateful to all the fans who cheered for Yeo Ui-ju, who is sometimes awkward but grows as she goes," adding, "Working with fellow actors, the director and crew, we came together to create the show’s youthful charm, and thanks to them I felt rewarded taking on a new genre." Cha Hak-yeon described the show as "a work I’m reluctant to let go of," saying, "I was happy and grateful to spend a different kind of youth. I want to thank the viewers once again for connecting with the show more deeply than I expected and for enjoying the show."

Kim Jae-hyun said, "The word 'ending' brings both relief and a strong sense of regret, but through this project I felt I took another step toward becoming a more relatable actor," adding, "Less like an ending, it feels more like the start of something bigger and greater." Son Jung-hyuk, expressing his affection for the role, said, "I only have good memories, so it's such a shame it's already over," and added, "Meeting 'Gi-jeon' showed me a new side of myself, and I think Gi-jeon will remain a character I remember with gratitude for a long time." Kim Dong-gyu likewise said, "I felt and learned so much on set, and every day was so precious it will be memorable," adding, "I was happy to portray the character 'Yun Dong-ju'."
