Director Neo Sora and actors Kurihara Hayato and Hidaka Yukito will visit South Korea later this month as 〈Happy End〉 returns to theaters to mark the first anniversary of its South Korean release.
Distributor Jinjin and Andamiro said on the 2nd that 〈Happy End〉 will return to theaters June 24 to mark the first anniversary of its South Korean release, and that Neo Sora and lead actors Kurihara Hayato and Hidaka Yukito will visit the country.
To coincide with the re-release, Neo Sora and lead actors Kurihara Hayato and Hidaka Yukito will visit South Korea from June 26 to 28. During their visit, they will attend official events including a Q&A with audiences and stage greetings. The visit will mark their first trip to South Korea in about a year, following a June visit last year held to commemorate the film surpassing 100,000 admissions.
〈Happy End〉 is a coming-of-age drama set in a near-future Tokyo threatened by earthquakes. It follows two friends, Yuta and Kou, as they approach high school graduation and confront systemic oppression and a fracture in their friendship. It is the narrative feature debut of director Neo Sora, who directed the concert film 〈Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus〉 by the late Ryuichi Sakamoto.
When it opened in South Korea last year, the film earned acclaim from critics and the broader arts community, ranking seventh in the 2025 independent art film foreign box office and first among foreign titles at CGV Art House for audience numbers. It was also invited to several international film festivals, including the Orizzonti competition at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and the Centrepiece program at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival.
A detailed schedule for the re-release and related South Korea events will be announced later through theaters and official ticketing platforms.
