A new film by director Hong Sang-soo has been invited to the Locarno Film Festival.

Director Hong Sang-soo’s 35th feature film, 〈No Place for Eyes〉, announced on July 10 that it will be invited to the Locarno Film Festival’s competitive section. The Locarno Film Festival, an international film festival held every August in Switzerland’s Locarno, is known for showcasing artistic and experimental auteur-driven films.

Regarding this film’s selection, the Locarno Film Festival said, “We were deeply moved to see how, through the poetic expressions that cinema creates and the refined craft that makes them possible, all of cinema’s images, every line of dialogue, and every encounter convey the meaning and beauty of life—and its complexity—in a way that looks so effortlessly at home, as if without strain. Once again, Hong Sang-soo has shown why he is one of the great masters of our time.”

With this, director Hong Sang-soo has succeeded in making it to the Locarno Film Festival a total of five times. Starring Kim Min-hee, Choi Myeong-gil, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Seok-ho, and Park Mi-so, 〈No Place for Eyes〉 has finished its world premiere screening at the Locarno Film Festival and is preparing for a domestic release in the second half of the year.
