'Robot Taekwon V' Marks 50 Years… Limited Release of 700,000 Nostalgic Tag-Style Stamps

'Robot Taekwon V' 50 years of legacy brings back circular tag-style stamp issued to maximize collectible value

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, 'Robot Taekwon V', a landmark work in South Korean animation, is returning as 'circular tag-style' commemorative stamps that strongly stir up childhood nostalgia.

The Ministry of Science and ICT 'Korea Post's Postal Business Division' announced on the 23rd that it will officially issue 700,000 stamps commemorating the 50th anniversary of 'Robot Taekwon V' on the 29th. The stamps boldly adopted the tag design that once symbolized children’s culture, raising the collecting value of the issue beyond ordinary postage stamps as a 'limited-edition' merchandise item.

The stamp designs feature major characters etched into the public’s memory, led by the protagonists 'Huni' and 'Younghee', along with 'Dr. Kim', 'Dr. Yoon', and 'TinRobot'. They also capture, in one frame, the diverse changes spanning 50 years—from early sketches to the present—drawing in fans’ attention.

Park In-hwan 'head of the Postal Business Division' said of the release, "We hope it will let people look back on the 50-year history of South Korea’s robot animation and become a medium for communication that helps share memories across generations," clearly outlining the project’s intent.
