Gu Gyo-hwan Powers Up With Every Death in New 'Buhwalnam: The Red' Trailer

The Gu Gyo-hwan-led film 〈Buhwalnam: The Red〉 unveiled its main trailer on Aug. 31, signaling its arrival in theaters this fall. Distributor Lotte Entertainment said on Aug. 31 that the main trailer offers a look at the film's key developments and action stills.

〈Buhwalnam: The Red〉 is an action film that follows ordinary job-seeker Seok-hwan (Gu Gyo-hwan) as he repeatedly dies and becomes progressively stronger. After being attacked by a mysterious group that broke into his home, Seok-hwan wakes up 3 days later and discovers he has the ability to resurrect. With each resurrection his hair turns red and he exhibits superhuman strength.

The main trailer centers on a chase between Black (Shin Seung-ho), who can control other people, and Seok-hwan, on whom that power has no effect. They are joined by Yeong-ha (Kang Ki-young), an office worker with maxed-out social survival skills who uses bokbunja as a pretext to navigate crises, and Ye-rin (Kim Si-a), who keeps Seok-hwan grounded with practical nagging, adding to the film's humor. The trailer also teases action across varied locations — a hotel, a church and an underground parking garage — as well as an urban car chase.

〈Buhwalnam: The Red〉, starring Gu Gyo-hwan, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Ki-young and Kim Si-a, opens in theaters Sept. 30.
