Actor Han So-hee shared playful behind-the-scenes stories about the much-discussed 'Whiplash' dance and 'Goose's Dream' singing scenes in 〈The Intern〉 during an interview with Cineplay in Seoul on the morning of Sept. 8.
The film 〈The Intern〉 follows office life across generations and ranks after Gi-ho (Choi Min-sik), a 37-year veteran "silver" intern, joins the company run by Seon-woo (Han So-hee), a fashion-industry dark horse who rose to prominence three years after her company launched. This film is based on the Hollywood movie of the same name.
Han quipped that she was "sorry to aespa fans and to veteran singer Insooni" about the dance and singing scenes that highlight the human side of perfectionist CEO Seon-woo. She said that during the flagship store party scene she didn't know any choreography, so she improvised by performing aespa's 'Whiplash' routine; she added that director Kim Do-young later actually purchased that track and inserted it into the film. Speaking about the scene in which she sings 'Goose's Dream,' she said, "I really gave it my all and sang my heart out, but when I watched the finished cut I couldn't bear to look at it," drawing laughter from the room.
The film 〈The Intern〉 opens on Sept. 16.
