Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin’s Netflix series ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ set to premiere Oct. 9!

The electrifying romantic comedy 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉, about a man whose artificial-heart battery has run out and a woman with electrical powers, has set Oct. 9 as its premiere date. Based on the web novel of the same name, 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉 marks the first romantic comedy from director Park Soo-won, who has won acclaim for the witty direction of series including [Work Later, Drink Now 2] and [Birthcare Center]. The series is also drawing attention for the pairing of Kim Young-kwang, returning with his irresistible romantic appeal, and romance queen Chae Soo-bin. Expectations are rising for what Kim Young-kwang, transformed into chic third-generation heir Baek Ho-rang, and Chae Soo-bin, playing Na Bo-bae, a drama writer with a special electrical ability, will bring to their roles.

The newly unveiled teaser poster and trailer point to the distinctive appeal of 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉, which adds a fresh premise to the familiar pleasures of a K-rom-com. The teaser poster first highlights the electrifying chemistry between Baek Ho-rang and Na Bo-bae. As the striking height difference between the two standing side by side catches the eye, pink sparks blooming from their clasped hands stir curiosity. A charging symbol appears above their heads amid the jolting effect, while a pink switch lights up in Baek Ho-rang’s heart. The phrase written beside them — “Touch to charge, separate to discharge, get shocked by love!” — also raises questions about Baek Ho-rang and Na Bo-bae’s relationship.

The teaser trailer released alongside the poster begins with Na Bo-bae confessing a secret she cannot tell anyone. After being struck by lightning as a child, Na Bo-bae developed “electrical powers” that cause her to electrocute people around her with a mere touch, forcing her to live completely alone. Meanwhile, Baek Ho-rang, an executive director at TS Resort, faces two major events: surgery to replace his artificial-heart battery and his succession to leadership of TS Group. When the two meet by chance, their lips collide unexpectedly, and Na Bo-bae realizes that, unlike other people, Baek Ho-rang is immune to her electrical powers. After encountering her fated “human rubber glove,” Na Bo-bae desperately tries to hold on to Baek Ho-rang, but the clueless Baek Ho-rang bluntly puts up a wall, saying he is not interested.

But their connection does not end there. A power outage at the hospital on the day of Baek Ho-rang’s surgery leaves his artificial-heart battery drained. Then, for reasons unknown, his battery begins recharging whenever he is near Na Bo-bae. At the same time, Na Bo-bae, a writer whose contract is nearing its end, receives an assignment from her director: create “a steamy grown-up romance.” She is at a loss because her electrical powers have kept her from ever having a proper relationship. Meticulous and calculating, Baek Ho-rang proposes a “skinship contract” with Na Bo-bae to keep himself charged. Baek Ho-rang’s plea — “Charge me for just three months, until my repeat surgery.” — and the pair’s clasped hands spark anticipation and excitement over what lies ahead. The series premieres Oct. 9, only on Netflix.
