[New film] Kim Yun-seok, Koo Kyo-hwan's 'Heavy Snow' set for November release — Mystery engulfs isolated train station

Showbox seeks fourth box-office hit of the year as 'Voice of Silence' director Hong Eui-jeong co-directs

The overwhelming suspense generated by actors 'Kim Yun-seok' and 'Koo Kyo-hwan' arrives in theaters next month with 'Heavy Snow'.

The new film 'Heavy Snow' unfolds at a rural train station completely cut off by extreme weather, distributor 'Showbox' said on the 1st. The locked-room thriller follows a stationmaster nearing retirement after devoting his life to the job and a newly appointed successor who become caught in an uncontrollable chain of events after discovering an 'unidentified body' buried beneath the snow.

'Kim Yun-seok', known for bringing a commanding presence to every role, plays Gab-soo, the stationmaster who has guarded Seol-o Station for his entire career and is on the verge of retirement. His trademark intensity is expected to capture the psychological pressure of an isolated setting with exceptional force.

'Koo Kyo-hwan', whose singular charisma cannot be replicated, plays Hyeon-taek, the new station worker, injecting the film with taut tension. After moving freely between the big and small screens this year in 'If We Were', 'Colony' and 'The Resurrection Man: The Red', he is set to undergo another dramatic acting transformation with this project.

The filmmaking team adds to the film's credibility. Hong Eui-jeong, director of 'Voice of Silence' (2020), which earned critical acclaim for its distinctive visual composition and narrative, and newcomer Park Sun-woo share directing duties to deliver a finely crafted thriller. Showbox, which has posted a string of box-office successes this year, is handling investment and distribution, raising expectations for a polished new mystery to a fever pitch.
