
Children's comics and literature drive sales, reshaping the bookstore market
According to the bestseller rankings for the fourth week of September (Sept. 23-29) released by Kyobo Book Centre, the children's educational comic 'HeunhanNammae 23' firmly held the overall No. 1 spot for the second consecutive week. The series, which drew an explosive response immediately after publication, continued to demonstrate its unwavering fan base this week and remained at the top of bookstore charts.
The philosophical humanities title 'Seneca, for You Who Are Having Today Taken Away' held on to No. 2, confirming its solid readership. Fiction made especially strong gains this week. 'Korean History Paranormal Researcher' and the enduring classic 'Siddhartha' each climbed one spot to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, drawing readers seeking literary sensibility.
The emergence of new bestsellers is also drawing attention. Alan Levy's novel 'Theo' continued its steady climb through word of mouth and settled at No. 11 overall. Kim Hye-young's 'Rules for Raising a Bread Bug' also posted a notable result, ranking No. 13 on the overwhelming response and support of women in their 20s.
