Three generations of Marines bound by blood oath move to stop a terrorist attack in the heart of the city
South Korea’s leading character actors Baek Yoon-sik, Cha Seung-won and Park Hyung-sik are joining forces for the comedy-action blockbuster ‘Family Force’. They will portray three generations of a Marine Corps family as they move to stop a terrorist attack in the middle of the city.
Showbox, the film’s investment and distribution company, officially announced that it had finalized the main cast and begun principal photography on the 2nd.
The new film ‘Family Force’ follows a family of lifelong soldiers who served in the Marine Corps across three generations, from grandfather to grandson, as they wage a desperate battle against multinational terrorists who have seized a major hospital in Seoul. The film promises to tell the story with humor and spectacle.
Cha Seung-won anchors the film as Cheol-du, a former Marine Corps master sergeant who moves between his trademark charisma and comic performance. While visiting a hospital to see his father, he becomes caught up in an unexpected terrorist attack and awakens a hidden instinct.
Park Hyung-sik plays his son, Cheol-hun, a Marine Corps Special Reconnaissance Unit sergeant enjoying his final leave before discharge. The actor is expected to demonstrate a more mature command of action in his return to the big screen, seven years after the 2019 film ‘The Jurors’.
Baek Yoon-sik takes on the role of Cheol-seong, a legendary combat veteran who joined the Marine Corps as part of its first class and received a medal for military merit. He provides the three-generation family with its unshakable foundation.
Ra Mi-ran joins the cast as Ye-bun, Cheol-du’s wife and the family’s de facto power broker, who keeps the rough-and-tumble Marine household in line. Jang Ryul, who made a strong impression in the 2023 Netflix series ‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’, has also been cast as Tae-in, the villain leading the ruthless terrorist campaign and creating intense tension.
Directing the film is Won Shin-yun, who has delivered powerful suspense and action in every project, including ‘A Bloody Aria’ (2006), ‘The Suspect’ (2013), ‘Memoir of a Murderer’ (2017) and ‘The Battle: Roar to Victory’ (2019), ensuring the film’s quality.
