Tom Cruise, the star of the film 〈Digger〉 (directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu), made a surprise stage appearance for South Korean audiences on the film’s opening day, Oct. 3. Warner Bros. Korea, which imported and distributed the film, released footage on Oct. 6 from the final stop of Cruise’s 13th visit to South Korea.

On opening day, Cruise made surprise appearances at CGV Yeonnam and CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall, where he met moviegoers. He went into the audience, shook hands with fans and took photos with them, offering an especially warm display of appreciation. “This is an original film unlike anything you’ve seen before. I hope you fully experience the special feeling that only 〈Digger〉 can offer,” he said, thanking the audience.

The disaster blockbuster 〈Digger〉 follows Digger Rockwell (Tom Cruise), a cantankerous, eccentric third-generation oil tycoon. After he ignores a small crack at an oil-drilling facility in the Greenland ice sheet, the problem grows into a massive catastrophe that threatens to shake the entire world, forcing him to take action himself.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman and Jesse Plemons, 〈Digger〉 opened nationwide on Oct. 3 and is now playing to rave reviews in theaters across the country.
