Lee Se-young lit up the 31st Busan International Film Festival with appearances tied to both a film and a global OTT series. Her agency Fantagio said she successfully completed the festival's official schedule with two projects: the film 〈Still Brilliant〉 and the Disney+ original series 〈The Remarried Empress〉.
Lee attended the film 〈Still Brilliant〉's outdoor stage greeting and audience Q&A (GV) on the 8th and 9th, engaging directly with viewers. In the film she plays Ji-an, the granddaughter of Sun-ok (Kim Hye-ja). Lee said, "Acting alongside Ms. Kim Hye-ja was like a Christmas present," adding, "I had always hoped to work with her and learn from her, and I'm so happy we could share the screen in such a brilliant film."
She also attended the premiere screenings of episodes 1–3 of the Disney+ original series 〈The Remarried Empress〉 and joined the GV and outdoor stage greeting on the 9th and 10th. Making a bold transformation into Rashta, an empress who was once a runaway slave, Lee said, "I wrestled with whether a character could be loved and hated at the same time as I built her," and declared, "I want to deliver that dopamine rush for viewers," drawing cheers from the audience.
Demonstrating a broad acting range across film and series, Lee will return to audiences this fall and winter. The film starring Kim Hye-ja and Lee Se-young, 〈Still Brilliant〉, opens on October 21, and the Disney+ original series 〈The Remarried Empress〉 will be released on November 4.
