[Streaming Rating] Cineplay Reporter Rates 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2'

It's definitely a letdown compared with the striking first installment, but it works well enough if you focus on the 'cyberpunk' rather than the 'edgerunners.' Where its predecessor focused on individuals trying to become legends, this season leans into a world where corporations are tangled up in everything, too. Unlike the original game or the first installment, where the pursuit of a better life ends in death, this one has an unusual sense of returning from the brink of death. The strange chemistry that results when elements even more distinctly 'anime' than those of its predecessor meet cyberpunk is delicious, though the ensemble format left me feeling I never got to know its compelling characters properly. For all my disappointment, there's nothing else quite like it in this genre, so I expect I'll revisit it someday.
