"Oasis Begins Reunion Concert After 16 Years... 'It's Good to Be Back!'"

The legendary British Britpop rock band Oasis has returned to the stage after a 16-year hiatus. The Gallagher brothers, who had disbanded due to severe conflicts, received a rapturous welcome from fans around the world as they stood on stage together again.

Oasis held the first concert of their 'Oasis Live 25' tour on the evening of the 4th (local time) at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, as reported by BBC and Reuters/AP. The venue was filled with over 74,000 spectators who cheered enthusiastically as Liam and Noel Gallagher opened the show with 'Hello' and 'Acquiesce'.

Particularly noteworthy was the gesture of the Gallagher brothers. The two brothers, whose severe conflicts had led to the band's disbandment in the past, were seen synchronizing on stage, holding hands and raising them high.

During the concert, Oasis performed their representative hits such as 'Morning Glory', 'Some Might Say', 'Roll With It', 'Stand By Me', 'Supersonic', and 'Rock 'N' Roll Star'. Before singing 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', Liam shouted to the audience, "Turn around and hug each other, just like you love each other!"

Fans began to gather outside the venue hours before the start, forming long lines. One fan wearing an Oasis t-shirt held a banner that read, "The long wait is over."

Matt Hopman (48) stated, "Oasis is not just a band, but a movement and a part of what it means to be British." Ellie Wilshaw (19), a student who was a toddler when the band disbanded, also expressed, "I would be willing to pay anything to see the reunion."

According to BBC, fans flew in from Argentina and Japan to see the first concert of this tour, spending up to £5,000 (about $6,000) on travel expenses. Hundreds of fans who could not get tickets stayed around the stadium just to enjoy the atmosphere.

During the concert, Liam joked, "Are you having a good time? Was it worth £40,000 (about $74,000)?" referring to the high ticket prices, which drew laughter from the audience, according to BBC.

After performing in Cardiff until the 5th, Oasis will move to Manchester, the hometown of the Gallagher brothers. They will continue their tour in Ireland, the United States, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Brazil, and are scheduled to perform in Korea in October.

Formed in 1991, Oasis is a legendary Britpop band that sold over 90 million records worldwide with hits like 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'Live Forever'. Although they disbanded in 2009 due to conflicts between the Gallagher brothers, the announcement of their reunion last August and the 2025 tour schedule led to tickets selling out instantly in the UK, with resale prices skyrocketing, showcasing their enduring popularity.

Music writer John Aizlewood commented on the unpredictable 'volatile chemistry' of the Gallagher brothers, stating, "That's one of the charms of Oasis. The element of danger."
