After Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' was abruptly canceled by CBS, anxiety is spreading throughout the American late-night television industry. With Colbert's show, which had the highest ratings on broadcast TV, ending without warning, other late-night hosts are expressing concerns that their programs could meet the same fate at any time.

Seth Meyers, the host of NBC 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', recently candidly shared on the 'Armchair Expert' podcast hosted by Dax Shepard that he too harbors fears that his show could end tomorrow. This recording took place before the announcement of the Colbert show cancellation, reflecting the unstable atmosphere across the industry.

Meyers explained his concerns, saying, 'It's due to the current state of the entertainment industry we live in. It's strange, but in the past, I was afraid I wouldn't do well enough, but now I'm more afraid of things beyond my control. There may come a time when the ecosystem itself no longer supports such programs. It might be better to think that it's not my fault, but the feeling of having no control over it is strange.'

'Late Night with Seth Meyers' started in February 2014 and has been airing for 11 years now. Meyers, a former 'Saturday Night Live' (SNL) star, has hosted nearly 1,700 episodes, and the program is produced for NBC by Broadway Video and Universal Television.

Meyers also mentioned insights gained during his 11 years of hosting the show. 'If there's a breakthrough I've had over 11 years of doing the show, it's just showing up and doing the work. That's the only part they pay you for, and it's the only part you can do well. All other issues have people who do that job as well as you do, so don't interfere with that,' he advised.

He also shared his honest feelings about the current situation. 'Sometimes when I look back, this isn't the best time for me to be doing what I do, but at least I got in. The world knows Seth Meyers in a way that satisfies me,' he said.

Meyers recalled the difficulties in the early days of the show. 'In the early days of the show, there were lower points. Some NBC executives actually told us they were very worried about how the show would turn out,' he revealed. This shows that even his show, which is now well-established, faced concerns from within the network at the beginning.

The sudden ending of the Colbert show has sent shockwaves through the American late-night television industry, revealing the reality that traditional late-night formats are being challenged due to the rise of streaming services and changes in viewing patterns. Meyers' candid confession is being seen as a voice representing the uncertainty across the industry.
