A major shift in the webtoon ecosystem as readers evolve into creators

Waves of innovation have swept over the webtoon market. On the 24th, Naver Webtoon rolled out its dedicated application CuttsMake, transforming readers from mere consumers into active creators. The move breaks down the sturdy barrier of copyright and creates a space where anyone can legally enjoy the euphoria of secondary creation.

Even the launch lineup is overwhelming. Nine mega-hits, including Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and Love Revolution, join the service and hint at explosive synergy. Finished short-form animation spreads in real time through the specialized platform Cutts, building a new viral ecosystem.

Kim Hyo-jung, the general manager of Cutts business, said, "This is a signal for a shocking, virtuous cycle that further solidifies the original work’s fandom by delivering the thrill of creation." The limitless expansion and boundary-free evolution of intellectual property (IP) is now under way.
