Webtoons + Comics, Naver Webtoon and Disney Develop New Platform

Naver Webtoon and Walt Disney have joined forces for a new platform.

Naver Webtoon’s U.S. headquarters, Webtoon Entertainment, and The Walt Disney Company announced on the 15th that they have signed a non-binding agreement for the development of a new digital comic platform. According to reports, Webtoon Entertainment will be responsible for the development and operation of the new platform. It is expected to provide original series along with Naver Webtoon’s representative works and showcase various IP works from Disney.

The Walt Disney Company is expected to provide IP for the new platform while allowing Disney+ subscribers to enjoy the service. They plan to gather a unique collection of comics spanning Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios in one place to encompass comics and fandom.

The exact launch date of the platform is undecided, but it aims for a global release. It has also been reported that services in Korean and Japanese are in preparation.
