Director Yoon Ga-eun's new film 'Owner of the World' will officially premiere in Korea on October 22. This is the director's first new work in six years, following her delicate narratives of adolescent growth in 'Our Body' and 'Our Home', and it tells the story of a high school girl named 'Juin' whose world is shaken by a single remark made in anger.
'Owner of the World' is the first Korean film to be officially invited to the 'Platform' section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, and it premiered there to a sold-out audience and received applause. It has also been invited to the official sections of the 69th BFI London Film Festival and the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival, receiving high praise from major international film festivals.
The lead role of 'Juin' is played by newcomer Seo Soo-bin, with Jang Hye-jin, Kim Jeong-sik, Kang Chae-yoon, Lee Jae-hee, and Kim Ye-chang also appearing. Giovanna Fulvi, the head programmer of the Toronto International Film Festival, praised the film as "a work that delicately captures the growing pains of adolescence and deeply portrays intimate family relationships and the journey of self-recovery."
Director Yoon Ga-eun stated, "'Owner of the World' is a special story completed with the wholehearted efforts of shining actors and the production team," expressing her meaningful thoughts ahead of the Korean release.
