The Korean National University of Arts Film School announced on the 12th that it will hold a large-scale commemorative event during the Busan International Film Festival to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The event will take place from the 19th to the 21st at the Busan BIFF Square.
On the first day, the 19th, author Jeong Seo-kyung will hold a book talk at BNK Art Cinema. Jeong, a graduate of the Film School's Screenwriting Department, co-wrote works such as 〈Decision to Leave〉, 〈The Handmaiden〉, and 〈Thirst〉 with director Park Chan-wook, and recently worked on the script for the drama 〈Tempest〉.
On the same day, four writers from the Film School will gather on the outdoor stage at BIFF Square to share memories from their school days. Writers Yoon Eun-kyung and Kim Eun-hee, who wrote the drama 〈Winter Sonata〉, writer Min Ye-ji of the film 〈Little Forest〉, and writer Han Ji-wan of the drama 〈The Killer's Shopping List〉 will participate.
During the event, works created by alumni of the Film School during their studies will also be screened. Short film 〈12th Assistant Deacon〉 by director Jang Jae-hyun, who gained attention with the film 〈Exhuma〉, as well as 〈Homo Faber〉, co-directed by Yoon Eun-kyung and Kim Eun-hee, and director Lee Seung-hee's 〈Ah Man〉, featuring actor Lee Je-hoon, will be screened.
In particular, the omnibus film 〈Project 30〉, co-produced with CJ ENM, will be unveiled. A total of 30 directors, including director Kim Hong-jun, who served as a professor at the Korean National University of Arts, and cinematographer Kim Hyung-koo, participated, along with Jeong Jae-eun, Yoon Ga-eun, Lee Kyung-mi, Lee Jong-pil, Lim Sun-ae, and Namgoong Sun.
On the 20th, a forum will be held to share the educational achievements of the Korean National University of Arts Film School and discuss sustainable development directions for Asian film education.
Choi Yong-bae, the head of the Korean National University of Arts Film School, stated, "Through this event, we aim to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Film School's opening and share the artistic achievements accumulated over the years."
