
〈New World〉 〈The Witch〉 〈Night of Paradise〉 Director Park Hoon-jung's global action project 〈Sad Tropics〉 has been officially invited to compete at the 58th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. The film 〈Sad Tropics〉 tells the story of the children belonging to the killer organization 'Sad Tropics', raised by the 'Master' who reigns as the absolute ruler of the rainforest, as they begin to suspect each other and vow bloody revenge following an incident that shakes their existence. The 58th Sitges Film Festival, held from October 9 to October 19, has been recognized as one of the top three fantastic film festivals in the world, alongside the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival and the Fantasporto International Film Festival, since its inception in 1968 as a week dedicated to fantasy and horror films. At the Sitges Film Festival, which has established itself as a globally renowned festival in the genre film sector, 〈Sad Tropics〉 has been officially invited to the 'Òrbita' section, where popular genre films such as thrillers, action, and black comedies compete. It is scheduled to premiere globally for the first time in the main screening hall, the 'Auditorium', which has a capacity of 1,380 seats, and is expected to provide audiences with an overwhelming scale and intense immersion.

The chairman of the Sitges Film Festival, Ángel Sala, praised 〈Sad Tropics〉 as a "stylish revenge drama filled with an atmosphere brimming with primal energy and an innovative aesthetic that reconfigures the landscape of Korean thrillers," explaining the reason for the invitation. He also expressed special trust in Director Park Hoon-jung, stating he is "a director solidifying his position as a representative of modern Korean genre cinema."
