'Avengers' and 'Star Wars' to Meet in Webtoon!... Naver Webtoon Partners with Disney for Content

Hollywood's representative blockbuster franchises are set to be reborn in the new form of webtoons. Beloved content worldwide such as 'Avengers', 'Star Wars', and 'Spider-Man' will open a new chapter in digital comics.

Naver Webtoon’s U.S. headquarters, Webtoon Entertainment, officially announced on the 13th that it has signed a global content partnership with The Walt Disney Company. Through this agreement, major intellectual properties (IPs) owned by Disney, including Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios, will be newly produced as vertical scroll webtoons.

The first five titles selected for webtoon adaptation are 'The Amazing Spider-Man', 'Avengers', 'Star Wars', 'Alien', and 'A Very Old Story'.

Webtoon Entertainment announced plans to establish a dedicated Disney section within its English application and to sequentially introduce about 100 collaborative series in the future. Notably, this webtoon adaptation will be done using traditional methods, excluding artificial intelligence technology.

Kim Yong-soo, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Naver Webtoon, stated, "Collaboration with Disney is just the beginning," and expressed his ambition that "Naver Webtoon will take the lead in making stories loved by fans around the world easily accessible anytime, anywhere in collaboration with Disney."
