SEVENTEEN Donates 350 Million Won to UNESCO for 'World Youth Day'

On August 12, the group SEVENTEEN announced on the 13th that they donated $250,000 (approximately 350 million won) to UNESCO in celebration of 'World Youth Day'.

This donation was confirmed to have been raised through the charity auction 'JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN'. The fund will be used to strengthen the Global Youth Fund jointly established by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO.

SEVENTEEN is currently continuing their global youth support activities as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors. They were invited to speak and perform at the 13th 'UNESCO Youth Forum' held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, becoming the first K-Pop artists to do so in 2023. After being officially appointed as UNESCO's first Youth Goodwill Ambassadors last year, they donated $1 million (approximately 1.39 billion won) to create a fund to enhance the creativity of youth worldwide.

It is known that this fund is currently being used to support self-directed projects of 100 youth groups for a better future.

Regarding this donation, SEVENTEEN stated, "Since our debut, we have grown by expressing the colorful moments of youth through music that embodies sincere experiences and emotions, making the significance of World Youth Day even more special." They added, "We send a message of support to all young people around the world who are still pursuing their dreams."

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is scheduled to meet global fans starting with the first performance of their new world tour 'NEW_' at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on the 13th and 14th of next month.
