Actor Daniel Day-Lewis, who had announced his retirement, has made an appearance on screen after 8 years.

A representative of method acting (a technique where the actor immerses themselves in the character not just in front of the camera but throughout the filming period) and a three-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actor, Daniel Day-Lewis declared his retirement after his last film, 〈Phantom Thread〉, in 2017.

However, it has been reported that he will appear in his son Ronan Day-Lewis's directorial debut 〈Anemone〉 in 2024, strengthening the rumors of his return. On August 12 (Korean time), his return was confirmed with stills from 〈Anemone〉. In the stills, Daniel Day-Lewis is seen looking up at the sky with short white hair and a shaft beard style. The stills also feature actor Sean Bean.

〈Anemone〉 will be introduced at the New York Film Festival in September 2025 and will be released in North America in early October. The film tells the story of a father, brothers, and a son, and was co-written by the father-son duo Daniel and Ronan.
