Director Lee Chang-dong shared behind-the-scenes details about a scene in the film and spoke about Zo In-sung’s hard work.

Director Lee Chang-dong was interviewed about 〈Possible Love〉, the film he directed, at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on November 6. He recalled the karaoke scene and shared what happened on set.

“The scene was originally meant to convey Mi-ok’s subtle emotions as she sang,” Lee said. “But the technical challenge was that Zo In-sung, who played Sang-woo, had to play the clarinet.”

According to Lee, Zo had no idea he would need to play the clarinet in the film, so he practiced extensively. “As you know, Sang-woo knows everything and has to be good at everything in the film. He even has to be good at grilling meat and speak English well,” Lee said. “In that respect, Zo In-sung must have had a hard time.”

〈Possible Love〉 tells the story of a worker who has been laid off en masse and his wife, as well as a documentary filmmaker who covers the couple and her husband. The film opened in theaters on September 23 and completed a two-week theatrical run before its exclusive Netflix release on November 6.
