Park Soo-hong's Older Brother Receives 7-Year Sentence in Appeal... Verdict on December 19

It seems that Park Soo-hong's older brother and his wife, who are accused of embezzling Park Soo-hong's earnings, will not be able to avoid a prison sentence.

On November 12, the 7th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (Na) held a sentencing hearing for Park Soo-hong's older brother Mr. Park and his wife Ms. Lee, who were indicted for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).

Park Soo-hong's older brother and his wife managed Park Soo-hong's affairs exclusively from 2011 to 2021, but they were indicted for embezzling a total of 6.1 billion won during that time. In the first trial, only 2 billion won of that amount was recognized as embezzlement, resulting in Mr. Park receiving a 2-year prison sentence, while Ms. Lee was acquitted. However, in this appeal, the prosecution requested a 7-year prison sentence for Mr. Park and a 3-year sentence for Ms. Lee. The court has set December 19 as the date for the verdict.

Since 2022, Park Soo-hong and the older brother and his wife have been continuing the trial related to this case. Additionally, Park Soo-hong has filed a defamation lawsuit against Ms. Lee for spreading malicious rumors, and the court imposed a fine of 12 million won on Ms. Lee for the defamation charge.
