Netflix variety show 〈Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars 2〉 has raised expectations with the announcement of a mysterious lineup of two chefs alongside the White Spoon.
The fierce culinary class war of the 'Black Spoon' chefs, who aim to overturn the class system solely through taste, and the top star chefs of South Korea, the 'White Spoon', has unveiled the White Spoon poster and main trailer for 〈Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars 2〉.
The released White Spoon poster evokes the image of a giant Ferris wheel, filled with ingredients that hint at the grand scale of the upcoming black-and-white culinary class war. The passionate commitment of the white chefs, who boldly engage in the competition to overwhelm with 'taste', captures attention. This includes a dazzling lineup of white chefs, from Michelin 2-star Lee Joon to Michelin 1-star chefs Son Jong-won in Korean cuisine and Western cuisine, the first master of temple food in South Korea, Monk Seon-jae, 57-year veteran Chinese cuisine master Hu Deok-juk, 47-year veteran French cuisine master Park Hyo-nam, and representative star chefs of South Korea Jung Ho-young, Sam Kim, and Raymond Kim, as well as judges from [MasterChef Korea Season 4] Song Hoon and [Korean Cuisine Battle Season 3] winner Lim Seong-geun, adding to the anticipation.
The main trailer released alongside shows the black chefs sharpening their knives in a main kitchen sharply divided into black and white, hinting at an unscripted culinary class war. From the barbecue lab director who says, "I’m confident globally" to the culinary monster who claims, "I’ve only worked in the number one restaurants in the world", and the unusual keywords like three-star killer and Seochon prince, chefs who appear as black chefs bring surprises. The blind judging, a signature of 〈Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars〉, which judges solely based on 'taste', is expected to make the fierce competition of flavors in the black-and-white culinary class war even more dramatic. Above all, the new rules that differ from season 1 raise expectations. The surprise announcement of "This season has new rules" along with the phrase "It's my turn again" raises curiosity about the meaning of the two veiled figures that appeared.
〈Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars〉 became the first Korean variety show on Netflix to rank number one in the Netflix Global TOP 10 TV Non-English category for three consecutive weeks. It recorded first place in the Korean Gallup survey of 'Programs Koreans Like' in September 2024, creating a sensation in Korea and globally.
