The 26th Female Filmmakers Festival, hosted by the Women Filmmakers Association, announced the winners of the '2025 Female Filmmaker of the Year Awards' in 11 categories on December 9. The awards are based on theatrical releases and OTT original films from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025.
The Women Filmmakers Association previously announced that the recipients of the '2025 Female Filmmaker of the Year Awards' Achievement Award and the Female Filmmaker of the Year Award, as well as the Kang Soo-yeon Award, are respectively Shim Jae-myung, CEO of Myung Film, Director Yoon Ga-eun, and Actor Yoo Ji-tae. The Producer Award will go to the representative of Dorothy Film, who produced the well-made film 'People and Meat', which resonates deeply and provides comfort to all generations. The Director Award will be given to Director Lee Ran-hee for the film '3rd Year, 2nd Semester', which makes us reconsider the dignity of life and labor, while the Screenplay Award will be awarded to Writer Lim Na-moo for 'People and Meat', which captures humanism with an excellent balance of humor and the heavy and uncomfortable social realities.
The Acting Award goes to Actress Han Ye-ri for 'Spring Night', who conveyed the pain of life and existence and the love that embraces it all with overwhelming immersion, while the New Actor Award goes to Actress Seo Soo-bin for 'The Master of the World', who convincingly demonstrated the will of a girl walking towards tomorrow with transparent and strong eyes, without displaying sadness. The New Director Award will be given to Director Jo Hee-young for 'Only Known as Something Else', who insightfully explores the relationships of objects, spaces, and the characters within them with her own artistic sensibility. The Documentary Award goes to Director Jo Se-young for 'K Number', which made us witness the uncomfortable truths we have ignored, going beyond individual root-seeking, while the Technical Award goes to Cinematographer Jeon Hye-jin for 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint', which harmonized with a stable camera in a visually diverse fantasy action film.
The '2025 Female Filmmaker of the Year Awards' ceremony, celebrating its 26th anniversary this year, will be held with the support of the Seoul City on Tuesday, December 16 at 7 PM at Indie Space, hosted by Actress Moon So-ri.
