"I Was Unilaterally Hit by Nana"... Judge's Sharp Remark to the Robber "Try Changing Your Position"

A man in his 30s who broke into actress Nana's home and assaulted her and her mother drew criticism in court by claiming, "I was unilaterally hit instead." It was revealed that he even attempted to countersue Nana for 'attempted murder' while in custody.

According to the legal community on the 20th (Korean time), the first trial for Mr. Kim, who was arrested and indicted on charges of robbery causing injury, was held by the 1st Criminal Division of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court (Chief Judge Kim Guk-sik).

◆ "I thought it was an empty house... I was hit" vs "Try changing your position"

Mr. Kim is accused of breaking into Nana's home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province last November and threatening and injuring Nana and her mother. During the trial, Mr. Kim's lawyer claimed, "I thought it was an empty house and only entered for theft, and there was no intent to rob," adding, "I did not carry a weapon and was rather unilaterally beaten by the victims." In response, the court pointed out, "If someone enters your home and such a situation occurs, would you just stand by? Try to think from the other person's perspective."

◆ The thief sues the homeowner... "They tried to kill me"

The most shocking part is Mr. Kim's 'turning the tables' behavior. While in custody, Mr. Kim countersued Nana for attempted murder and special injury, claiming that he was injured during the process of Nana subduing him. He stated, "I did not have a weapon when entering Nana's house, and I left my bag outside."

However, the police's judgment was firm. They determined that the act of subduing an intruder armed with a weapon (according to the prosecution's charges) while Nana and her mother felt their lives were threatened constituted 'self-defense', and on the 16th, they decided not to prosecute Nana (no charges).

◆ Nana and her mother choked and suffered injuries requiring 4 weeks of treatment

The investigation revealed that Mr. Kim entered through the veranda using a ladder he had prepared in advance and even choked Nana's mother. During this process, her mother lost consciousness, and both Nana and her mother sustained injuries requiring 31 and 33 days of treatment, respectively. Mr. Kim also sustained injuries to his jaw and other areas during the struggle and was handed over to the police while subdued.

Nana's agency, Sublime, stated, "The perpetrator is not only unrepentant but is also committing secondary harm by exploiting the fact that he is a celebrity," indicating that they would take legal action without leniency. The next trial is scheduled for March 10.
