The story of the lives and loves of three youths is unveiled.
The Netflix movie 〈Pavane〉, released today (20th), is a coming-of-age melodrama that captures the journey of three young people who struggle to love themselves while finding the light of life through each other. Based on the bestselling novel by Park Min-kyu, 『Pavane for a Dead Princess』, the film diverges from the first-person perspective of the original, instead presenting a multi-dimensional view by intertwining the perspectives of Mi-jeong, Yo-han, and Kyung-rok, thereby reconstructing the meanings of love and friendship. Director Lee Jong-pil, who has sharply captured the spirit of the times in works like 〈English TOEIC Class of Samjin Group〉 and 〈Escape〉, offers a gentle comfort to the youth who must give up their dreams and love through a melodrama they have dreamed of since their teenage years.
At the center of the story are three characters who have closed their hearts for different reasons. Go Ah-sung plays 'Mi-jeong', who lives hiding from the prejudiced gazes of others, showcasing her unique depth in acting. The gradual change in Mi-jeong's gaze, as she meets Kyung-rok, who sees her without prejudice for the first time, becomes the core emotional line of the film. Byun Yo-han, who has radiated unique energy in various works, portrays 'Yo-han', a free-spirited individual, capturing his multi-layered personality that oscillates between being talkative and falling into deep silence. Rising star Moon Sang-min plays 'Kyung-rok', who gives up his dream of being a dancer and lives a colorless life until he meets Mi-jeong, stepping forward towards the future again, embodying the clumsy yet sincere face of youth.
The movie 〈Pavane〉 will be released on Netflix this afternoon.
