'Grey's Anatomy' Star Eric Dane Passes Away After Battle with ALS at Age 53

Eric Dane has passed away during his battle.

On February 19th (local time), North American media reported that actor Eric Dane has passed away after his battle. Eric Dane was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, around April 2025. At that time, he was actively working on projects such as 〈Euphoria〉 and, even during his illness, he raised his voice about neurological disorders and worked to increase awareness of the risks and social implications of the disease.

Beloved for his role as Mark Sloan in 〈Grey's Anatomy〉, he continued to make his presence felt as Cal Jacobs in 〈Euphoria〉 and McGrath in 〈Bad Guys: Ride or Die〉. However, after receiving his diagnosis in 2025, he was unable to overcome his illness and left his fans at the age of 53.

Eric Dane's representatives stated, "During his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, striving to make a difference for others facing the same fight," adding, "He was always grateful for the love and support of his fans."
