Blackpink's Rosé's 'Apartment' (APT.) has made history as the first K-Pop song to reach the top of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) Global Single Chart.
On the 19th (local time), IFPI announced that Rosé's 'Apartment' ranked #1 on the Global Single Chart last year. The IFPI Global Single Chart is a credible indicator that quantifies music consumption and download counts to select the song that gained the most widespread global popularity in a year.
IFPI emphasized that "Rosé is the first artist outside North America or Europe to reach the top of this chart." They also added, "This is the first time a song with non-English lyrics has reached #1 on the Global Single Chart," explaining that 'Apartment' climbed to the top thanks to its sustained global hit status.

Previously, in 2012, Psy became the first Korean artist to enter this chart with 'Gangnam Style', followed by BTS (2020, 2021) and Jungkook (2024) who made it to the top ranks but did not reach the top spot. Bruno Mars, who performed 'Apartment' with Rosé, returned to the top after 14 years since he achieved #1 with 'Just The Way You Are' in 2011, while Mars and Lady Gaga's duet 'Die With A Smile' ranked #4.
Meanwhile, the Netflix animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 original soundtrack (OST) 'Golden' ranked #2, and another OST from the same work, 'Soda Pop', also made it to #13, achieving the feat of having two songs from the same work simultaneously enter the top ranks.
