Actress Kim Jae-kyung has successfully expanded her acting range through her first Japanese drama, TBS Friday drama 〈DREAM STAGE〉.
〈DREAM STAGE〉 depicts the journey of a former genius producer who was ousted from the industry and seven trainees from a Korean agency, as they pursue their dreams across generations and nationalities. In the drama, Kim Jae-kyung plays the role of rival producer Park Ji-soo, who selects the rival group TORINNER, showcasing her presence.
Park Ji-soo is a charismatic character with strong ambitions for success, and from her first appearance, Kim Jae-kyung overwhelms the atmosphere, clearly portraying the character's sense of purpose. Ji-soo, who worked at the large music agency Bouquet Music led by Choi Gi-yong (Lee Yi-kyung), delicately expresses her inner changes as she becomes weary of the constant pressure for results. Notably, in the ending of episode 6, she approaches Nam Ha-yoon (Ha Yeon-soo) to ask for acceptance, hinting at a new turning point in the plot.
Kim Jae-kyung has received praise not only for her commanding gaze and aura but also for showcasing her fluent Japanese skills despite this being her first challenge in a Japanese drama, enhancing the immersion of the story. From her witty exchanges with Ha-yoon to the tense standoffs with Azuma Jun (Nakamura Tomoya), she added to the drama's enjoyment through her chemistry with various characters.
The drama 〈DREAM STAGE〉 featuring Kim Jae-kyung airs every Saturday night at 11 PM on Channel J and every Tuesday at 12:15 AM on tvN, and it is also available for viewing on the OTT platform TVING.
