Singer and painter Solbi (real name Kwon Ji-an) will hold her solo exhibition 'Humming Road' at Gallery Wi Cheongdam in Gangnam, Seoul, from March 4 to April 4, as announced by her agency Jian Castle on the 26th.

This will be Solbi's first solo exhibition in Korea in about a year since 'Flowers from Heaven' last March. The exhibition will take place on the first and second floors of the gallery, showcasing over 30 new paintings.

Jian Castle stated, "This exhibition is centered around Solbi's unique artistic language 'Humming,' which she has been continuously exploring." They explained, "The artist reflected her experience of visiting the Rhône River, the backdrop of Vincent van Gogh's 'Starry Night,' during her trip to Arles, France last year, and as a result, the cypress tree emerges as a key motif in her work."

Solbi interpreted the cypress tree as a symbolic entity connecting heaven and earth. The 'path' in her works is viewed not as a route to a destination, but as the very process of life’s time accumulating layer by layer.

In this work, Solbi adopted the 'Jiduhwa' technique, applying and pushing paint directly with her fingers instead of using a brush. Through this physical act, she built layers of thick materiality and color, capturing the density of emotions and traces of time on the canvas.
