This spring, the emotional drama 〈Kim~chi!〉 is confirmed to be released on March 25, warming the hearts of Korean audiences.
〈Kim~chi!〉 depicts the healing journey of Min-kyung (Lee Joo-yeon), who has lost her direction in life, as she captures the daily life of Deok-goo (Han In-soo), a dementia-stricken elderly man waiting for his deceased granddaughter in front of his house every morning, filling each other's voids. Through the medium of photography, it portrays the connection between an elderly man losing his memory and a young woman recovering from her wounds, gaining attention in the Korean independent film scene.
This work has already proven its artistic value by winning the Jury Award for Best Feature Film and the Blue Ribbon Acting Award at the 15th Chungmuro Independent Film Festival. Lee Joo-yeon, a former member of the group After School, plays the role of Min-kyung, showcasing a deeper inner performance as she rises from her wounds, while veteran actor Han In-soo, celebrating his 50th anniversary in the industry, plays the role of Deok-goo, the grandfather whose memory is fading, anchoring the narrative.
The released main poster symbolically captures Min-kyung's gaze under the warm spring sunshine within the viewfinder frame, expressing the protagonist's inner self. The tagline, "Once again, the spell calling for happiness, Kim~chi!" hints at the beginning of new connections and healing that seep into a stagnant daily life, sparking curiosity.
Set to deliver a message of healing to the Korean film industry in 2026, 〈Kim~chi!〉 will be available in theaters across Korea starting March 25 (Wednesday).
