Britney Spears Arrested for DUI in California, Released... Court Appearance in May

Pop star Britney Spears has been arrested for DUI and has since been released.

According to foreign media including Reuters, Spears was caught in a DUI checkpoint in Ventura, California on the night of the 4th (local time). She was then transported to a hospital for a blood alcohol concentration test, and her vehicle was towed from the scene. Spears was released the following day, on the 5th, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4th.

Meanwhile, Spears has a prior history of being charged with a hit-and-run incident involving property damage in 2007.

Britney Spears' spokesperson acknowledged in a statement distributed to the U.S. media that "there is absolutely no excuse," adding that "Britney will take the right path and comply with the law, and we hope this will be the first step towards change in Britney's life."
